Our Clinical Programs will address topics from the areas of Rehabilitation Psychology and Clinical Psychology.
Rehabilitation psychology examples include mood/depression disorders, panic/anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder - PTSD, somatic disorders (pain), and head injury/concussion disorders.
Clinical psychology examples include obsessive-compulsive disorder, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, social anxiety disorder, body dysmorphia, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety disorder.
One of our aims at lifebalance is to provide more specialized groups within the clinical areas. For example PTSD specific groups such as for first responders or military related are not widely available, however the need is tremendous. We recognize specialized groups can better address similar biopsychosocial concerns in a manner a more general group could not, for example a mild traumatic head injury/concussion group specific to motor vehicle collision.
Our clinicians are mindful of traps groups can fall into and we always work as a team to steer the group in a positive direction. These are therapy sessions, not venting sessions. Research tells us the most important therapeutic factor is the quality of the relationship a client feels they build with their therapist. With us you will build many supportive therapeutic relationships, not just one.
At Lifebalance we take our time in searching for clinicians and instructors who are a good fit with our philosophy. In terms of clinicians, we search out individuals who are specialized in their area of clinical/rehab. psychology and we invite them to join us when there is a strong match with our philosophy. We only offer groups when we have the appropriate clinician on board. We pledge to continue to build a wide range of group offerings as we curate a great team.
We are mindful of the area we serve here in Surrey BC and the lack of mental health treatment in other languages. Lifebalance will offer programs in both English and Punjabi/Hindi.
